Red Sox 2025 Draft Selection Shines on the Mound After Portland Promotion
The Boston Red Sox are currently navigating a youthful pitching landscape, with two rookies already in their starting lineup, alongside 27-year-old Brayan Bello, who started his career at an impressively young age. Despite the crowded rotation, the organization continues to monitor its promising pitching prospects in the minor leagues.
One standout player making waves this season is Anthony Eyanson. The Red Sox selected Eyanson as the 87th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. He initially made an impact during his five starts with Boston’s High-A affiliate in Greenville, where he allowed just a single run over more than 20 innings. His impressive performance earned him a promotion to the Portland Sea Dogs.
Eyanson became the first player from the Red Sox's 2025 draft class to reach Double-A, and he has continued to impress since the move. In his Double-A debut, he surrendered only one run, and in his second outing, he delivered an outstanding performance, pitching five innings without allowing a hit. However, he faced a setback in his third game, giving up three runs in four innings.
He rebounded excellently in his latest game against the Hartford Yard Goats, completing five innings without conceding a run. Eyanson's statistics now reflect a strong 2.00 ERA across four starts in Double-A, with 11 hits allowed and 19 strikeouts. Overall, his season ERA stands at an impressive 1.17, showcasing his potential as a future asset for the Red Sox.
