RJ Hudson Chooses Clemson: Strong Bonds and Trust Lead Versatile Defender to the Tigers
RJ Hudson quickly realized that Clemson was the right fit for him. Just a week after receiving an offer on June 6, the talented EDGE/linebacker from Varina, Virginia, made an official visit to the campus. A week later, he announced his commitment to head coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers, opting for Clemson over schools like Maryland, Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Syracuse.
The official visit solidified Hudson's feelings about the program. "They just kept getting better and stayed on track with recruiting me," Hudson shared with Rivals. He established meaningful connections with several coaches, including defensive ends coach Chris Rumph, linebackers coach Nick Eason, former Clemson player Ben Boulware, defensive coordinator Tom Allen, and Swinney himself. "Those relationships meant a lot to me. They made me feel like a priority,” he added.
In his decision-making process, Hudson highlighted four key elements: connection, relationship, reliability, and foundation. These factors played a crucial role in his choice of Clemson. Having visited the university three times, each trip reinforced his belief that this program provides the ideal environment for his development.
Hudson is optimistic about the future of Clemson under Swinney's leadership. "I believe Coach Dabo can bring it back to what Clemson once was. I think he’ll bring glory back to the program with this class,” he remarked. This commitment is a significant achievement for the Tigers, who view Hudson as an excellent fit for their linebacker scheme.
