Rory McIlroy heads into the PGA Championship at Aronimink this week looking to win his second major championship in a row, and the seventh of his career.

McIlroy won The Masters last month and he now has his sights set on adding to his major championship haul.

The 37-year-old Northern Irishman has already secured legendary status in the game, but he has the burning desire required to further cement his legacy.

However, Rory McIlroy‘s preparation for the PGA Championship has certainly not been ideal.

McIlroy was spotted limping at the Truist Championship last week and he confirmed after his final round that was due to a blister on his toe.

And it seems like the problem has not cleared up just yet.

McIlroy is one of the leading favorites to win the PGA Championship this week.

He possesses the game required to absolutely overpower Aronimink.

If the 37-year-old brings his ‘A’ game this week, it would actually be a surprise if he doesn’t leave Pennsylvania as a seven-time major champion.

However, not everything has gone smoothly for the 30-time PGA Tour winner so far at Aronimink.

Golf content creator Brendan Porath was at Aronimink on Tuesday, and he noticed a slightly concerning issue with Rory McIlroy.

Rory is going in after three holes,” Porath said on X.

Limped a bit to the 3rd tee, was sitting in middle of 3rd fairway taking his shoe off, and looks to be calling it a day on the 4th tee box.

What Rory McIlroy said about his toe issue last week

McIlroy spoke to reporters after his final round at the Truist Championship.

And he responded when asked why he was limping.

Yeah, I’ve got a blister on my pinky toe on my right foot, the six-time major champion said.

But it’s underneath my nail. So I can’t really get to it or so it’s a little sore, but I’ll be all right. Started to feel it like Friday afternoon.

McIlroy then responded when asked if the blister affected his performance this week.

No, not at all. No, that was — I wish that was an excuse, but absolutely not (laughing), he said.

He was then asked whether he is concerned about the blister on his toe.

No, it’s fine. I’ll be okay, he replied.
