Royals Triumph 14-6 Over Cardinals Despite Witt Jr.'s Injury
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — In an impressive display of offense, Bobby Witt Jr. launched one of three home runs for the Kansas City Royals before exiting the game with a sore right knee. The Royals achieved a club record by hitting five doubles during a six-run second inning on Thursday night, ultimately securing a 14-6 victory against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Alongside Witt, Jac Caglianone and Salvador Perez also contributed homers, helping the Royals set new season benchmarks for both runs and hits, with a total of 17. Notably, every player in the starting lineup managed to drive in at least one run during the game.
Witt's solo home run came in the first inning, and he followed it up with an RBI single in the second. However, he was taken out for a pinch hitter in the fourth after making a sliding stop at shortstop just moments earlier.
This win marks a significant moment for the Royals as they continue to build momentum this season.
