Silverstone Set to Host FIA World Endurance Championship in 2027

The prestigious FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) is making its highly anticipated return to the UK after an eight-year hiatus, with Silverstone confirmed as part of the 2027 season lineup. This iconic Northamptonshire circuit has a rich history with the championship, having hosted eight events from 2012 until 2019.

The upcoming Six Hours of Silverstone will serve as the third round of the season, scheduled for April 23-25, and marks an expansion of the FIA WEC calendar to nine races. Stuart Pringle, the CEO of Silverstone Circuit, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "The spectacle of FIA WEC is like no other. We cannot wait to see it back at Silverstone in 2027, and neither can our fans."

Pringle emphasized the longstanding relationship between Silverstone and the FIA WEC, noting, "Our history with the FIA World Endurance Championship and its forebears runs deep, with more than 50 years of some of the greatest endurance racing this sport has ever seen. FIA WEC is a unique and exciting championship, and we are proud to welcome it back to a circuit that demands everything from drivers and inspires an atmosphere that must be experienced to be believed."

This event will join a schedule that includes the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans. Frederic Lequien, CEO of FIA WEC, highlighted Silverstone's significance, stating, "Silverstone is a venue steeped in motorsport history and boasts a long legacy of top-flight endurance racing." He added that the circuit is well-loved by drivers and presents an exciting challenge, while also acknowledging the passionate and knowledgeable British fanbase that enhances the experience of a World Championship event.
