Sonny Gray Addresses Red Sox's Struggles: 'We're Not Good'
The Boston Red Sox are facing a challenging month, having just completed a series against the Toronto Blue Jays with a loss at Fenway Park. This defeat marked the eighth loss in their last ten games, bringing their June record to a disappointing 4-10.
Sonny Gray, a starting pitcher acquired in the offseason, has been a rare bright spot for the team, boasting an impressive record of eight wins and only one loss. On Thursday, he took the mound but struggled, allowing three runs on six hits without receiving any run support until after he exited in the seventh inning.
Reflecting on the team's current state, Gray was straightforward in his assessment. "We’re not good," he stated. "We’re just not a good team right now, and that’s just a fact."
Trevor Story, a veteran player, echoed Gray's sentiments, expressing disbelief over the team's 29-43 standing. "It’s hard to believe that this is where we’re at. It’s hard to put into words that this is where we’re at," Story remarked. "I wouldn’t believe it at all if you told me this at the beginning of the year. Obviously, a lot of things play into that."
The Red Sox are under pressure to improve quickly, as discussions about potential trades loom if the team's fortunes do not change soon.
