On June 1, the latest rankings for South Dakota's track and field athletes have been released, showcasing impressive performances across various events. The data, compiled from meets up to May 30 and reported to the athletic.net database, highlights the top competitors in all classes.

In the 100 meters, freshman Bergan Musser from Lennox leads with a time of 11.72 seconds, achieved on May 14. Following closely are sophomore Reagan O'Neill from Bennett County and senior Charlee Williams-Smith from Pierre, clocking in at 11.88 and 11.92 seconds, respectively. A total of ten athletes made the leaderboard, with notable performances also in the 200 meters where Halle Braun from Sioux Falls Christian set a strong pace at 24.23 seconds.

The 400 meters saw senior Charlee Williams-Smith once again shine, finishing with a time of 55.02 seconds. Meanwhile, the 800 meters featured junior Peyton VanDeest from Spearfish leading the way at 2:08.21. Significant mentions also go to Brianna Reilly, an 8th grader from Harrisburg, who continues to impress with her performance in both the 800 and 1600 meters.

In hurdles events, Maya Khachikian from Rapid City Stevens claimed the top spot in the 100-meter hurdles with 14.20 seconds, while Halle Braun also excelled in the 300-meter hurdles. The relays showcased teamwork, with Rapid City Stevens taking the lead in the 4x100 meter relay.

This leaderboard reflects a vibrant track and field season, showcasing the talents of young athletes across South Dakota as they approach the championship meets ahead.
