Penn State men's basketball has strengthened its roster with the addition of Dasonte Bowen, a guard transferring from St. Bonaventure. Bowen's agent, CJ Ward of LIFT Sports Management, confirmed the news earlier today to On3.

The 6-foot-2 senior has been granted a fifth year of eligibility, allowing him to continue his collegiate career. Over the last season, he averaged 10.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. Bowen initially began his college journey at Iowa before making the switch to St. Bonaventure for the 2024-25 campaign.

During his time with the Bonnies, Bowen had two productive seasons and led the team in assists in the 2025-26 season. His previous season was cut short due to injury, permitting him an extra year to play. Following the retirement of longtime head coach Mark Schmidt, Bowen has opted to join the Nittany Lions for his final year.

Despite a shooting percentage of 41% last season, Bowen's assist rate ranked him among the top ten in the Atlantic 10. His transition to the Big Ten will be closely watched, especially after starting just nine games during his tenure at Iowa. Bowen isn't the first player from St. Bonaventure to move to Penn State; Izaiah Brockington made a similar transfer in 2018.

Welcome aboard, Dasonte!
