Stefon Diggs and Trevon Diggs Could Be Teammates on NFC East Team

The Green Bay Packers released All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs in January, and the New England Patriots released All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs in March.

The Diggs brothers remain free agents as we approach June, but rather than throw a pity party about it, they’re pondering the potential of being NFL teammates for the first time.

Last week, Mykell Ramos posted a TikTok in which she asked Stefon Diggs, 32, and Trevon Diggs, 27, how much longer until they’re both in a Washington Commanders uniform.

“That’s what everybody’s talking about right now,” Stefon Diggs said. “We’re gonna talk about it real, real soon.”

It would be a family reunion and a homecoming wrapped in one, as they’re from Gaithersburg, Maryland. Stefon played college ball at Maryland before the Minnesota Vikings drafted him in the fifth round in 2015, while Trevon played at Alabama before becoming a second-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2020.

More importantly, it’s not just a pipe dream. While there are questions about Trevon Diggs’ health, which led the Cowboys to release him last December, the Commanders have needs at corner and receiver.

After Terry McLaurin, there’s a huge dropoff, which is less than ideal for getting quarterback Jayden Daniels back on track after an injury-riddled 2025. It’s also not ideal to supplement a 30-year-old McLaurin with 32-year-old Diggs, but that’s the position the Commanders find themselves in, unless third-round receiver Antonio Williams pops as a rookie.

Stefon Diggs proved with Drake Maye in New England last season that he can be a safety blanket for a young quarterback. He led the Patriots with 1,013 yards and 85 catches. ESPN’s Mina Kimes relayed that Diggs also led the NFL with an 89% catch rate on short passes.
