TCU Baseball Secures Commitment from James Nunnallee of Mississippi State
TCU baseball has received a commitment from outfielder James Nunnallee, a sophomore who previously played for Mississippi State. In his single season with the Bulldogs, Nunnallee posted a batting line of .241/.359/.370, accumulating 13 hits, four doubles, one home run, and five RBIs across 53 at-bats. During the 2026 season, he participated in 29 games, starting in 10, while tallying 11 runs, seven walks, and two stolen bases.
Prior to his time at Mississippi State, Nunnallee had a successful freshman year at Virginia, where he played 48 games and made 40 starts. He recorded a batting average of .296, with 12 doubles and 26 RBIs, and notably boasted the best strikeout rate in the Atlantic Coast Conference at 10.9 percent.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound outfielder from San Diego could find himself in a pivotal role at TCU, especially with potential departures of both Chase Brunson and Sawyer Strosnider to the upcoming MLB Draft. Nunnallee bats left-handed and throws right-handed, showcasing his talent further by earning recognition as the Class 5 Region D Player of the Year during his high school tenure at Lightridge in Virginia.
As a senior, he achieved an impressive batting average of .474 and was ranked as the seventh overall player in the state before committing to the Cavaliers. Nunnallee's addition to TCU could enhance their outfield depth as they prepare for the next season.
