Tennessee Leverages Alumni Influence in Recruiting David Gabriel Georges

In a strategic move, Tennessee Volunteers head coach Josh Heupel invited former running back Alvin Kamara to Knoxville to enhance the official visit of five-star recruit David Gabriel Georges. The young athlete, who is also considering Ohio State, has expressed admiration for Kamara, a star with the New Orleans Saints. This connection left a significant impression on Georges during his visit.

"The Alvin Kamara stuff, it matters," commented Georges’ uncle to On3 after the visit, noting how much his nephew has been inspired by Kamara's highlights. The relationship between the two has made the recruiting process even more compelling.

However, Kamara isn’t the only former Volunteer who could play a key role in Tennessee’s recruitment efforts. Heupel might consider reaching out to Josh Palmer, a former wide receiver, to assist in appealing to Georges. Palmer, who currently plays for the Buffalo Bills after starting his career with the Los Angeles Chargers, shares a similar background with the Canadian native.

Gabriel Georges attends Baylor School in Chattanooga but hails from Quebec. Palmer, originally from Brampton, Ontario, moved to Florida to pursue football in high school. His experiences could provide valuable insight to Georges about transitioning from Canada to the U.S. for athletics.

"I knew that [with] what I wanted to achieve in order to play college football and professional football, that I needed the exposure," said Palmer, reflecting on his own journey. His understanding of the challenges of relocating for sports could resonate well with Georges, as he may navigate similar decisions.

While connecting Georges with Palmer might not clinch the recruitment, the shared experiences could help address any concerns about life at Tennessee for a fellow Canadian.
