Tennessee Softball Edges Out Texas Tech to Reach Semifinals

The Tennessee Lady Volunteers softball team showcased their resilience in a thrilling match against the Texas Tech Red Raiders during the NCAA Women’s College World Series on Saturday. Coming off a victory over the Texas Longhorns, the Lady Vols faced a formidable opponent in Texas Tech, who had finished as the runner-up in 2025 and boasted a star-studded lineup, including former Lady Vol Taylor Pannell.

The game lived up to its hype, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm offensively. Tennessee’s pitcher, Karlyn Pickens, delivered an outstanding performance, allowing just one hit in the first four innings. Despite having several scoring chances, the Lady Vols faced difficulties capitalizing on them, reminiscent of their baseball counterparts who often left runners on base.

The breakthrough came in the bottom of the fifth inning when Taelyn Holley launched her sixth home run of the season, giving Tennessee a crucial 1-0 lead.
