Tennessee Softball Reaches WCWS Semifinals, Awaiting Next Opponent

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Tennessee Lady Vols softball team has secured a place in the semifinals of the Women's College World Series for the third time in four years following their victory over Texas Tech on May 30. The No. 7 seed, boasting a record of 49-10, triumphed 2-1 against the No. 11 seed Red Raiders, who hold a 58-8 overall record, at Devon Park.

This marks a notable achievement for Tennessee, as they advance without dropping to the losers bracket, a feat they last accomplished in 2013, the year they reached the WCWS finals. In the semifinals, scheduled for June 1 at noon ET, the Lady Vols will face the winner of the losers bracket.

In the past three seasons, Tennessee has made it to the WCWS semifinals twice, though they faced elimination last year at the hands of the Texas Longhorns, losing 2-0. Prior to this year, the Lady Vols had not competed in Oklahoma City since 2015, making this consecutive appearance their first since 2012 and 2013.

Fans can catch the upcoming semifinal matchup on ESPN, as the network will be providing coverage of the Women's College World Series along with ABC and ESPN2.
