Tennessee softball wins series at Missouri
No. 8 Tennessee (42-8, 16-7 SEC) won a three-game softball series against Missouri (27-28, 8-15 SEC) on Friday. Rankings reflect the NFCA/GoRout Division I Coaches Poll.
The Lady Vols won Game 2, 4-2.
Sage Mardjetko (12-1) started for Tennessee and pitched five innings. She recorded seven strikeouts and 101 pitches (62 strikes) against 24 batters. Mardjetko allowed five hits, two walks and two runs (one earned).
Karlyn Pickens pitched two innings in relief and totaled four strikeouts and 29 pitches (19 strikes) against seven batters.
Second baseman Ella Dodge hit a solo home run in the third inning for the Lady Vols.
Tennessee won Game 1, 3-1, on Thursday. A series finale will be contested Saturday between the Lady Vols and Tigers. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT (SEC Network).
The Lady Vols lead the all-time softball series versus Missouri, 17-10.
