Teoscar Hernández Anticipates Month-Long Recovery from Hamstring Strain
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández has shared some positive updates regarding his recovery following a hamstring strain, indicating he could be back in action in about a month. Prior to the Dodgers' game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Hernández mentioned that the initial assessment suggested a four-week recovery period, but he remains hopeful that he might return sooner.
According to Hernández, recent MRI results indicated a Grade 1 strain, which is the least severe type of hamstring injury. "Hopefully less than that," he remarked when asked about his recovery timeline. However, the seasoned player emphasized the importance of not rushing his return to the field, especially after playing a key role in the Dodgers' offense during the first part of the season.
Manager Dave Roberts echoed Hernández's cautious approach, stating that the team intends to be careful with one of their top hitters. "We're going to be very mindful of the buildup," Roberts affirmed, adding that the team has learned from past experiences with injuries. To ensure a complete recovery, Hernández is likely to undergo a rehabilitation assignment before rejoining the major league roster.
With the season still in its early stages, the Dodgers are prioritizing Hernández's long-term health over a quick return. Currently, he boasts a .276 batting average, with seven home runs and 31 RBIs this season. As Hernández continues to recover, players like Alex Call and Ryan Ward may step up to fill the void in the outfield.
While Hernández hopes to beat the month-long estimate for his recovery, the Dodgers are committed to a careful recovery process. If he needs the full four weeks plus rehab time, he may return after the All-Star break, but both Hernández and the team are focused on ensuring he is fully fit to contribute for the remainder of the season.
