Texans Release Veteran Offensive Lineman Sidy Sow as OTAs Progress

The Houston Texans have parted ways with offensive lineman Sidy Sow, paving the way for him to seek opportunities with other teams in 2026. The decision to waive Sow came just ahead of Tuesday's practice session, as reported by the team's official transcript. After clearing waivers, he will have the chance to join another squad starting Wednesday morning.

Sowy, who was previously a starter with the New England Patriots, played in one game for the Texans against the Jacksonville Jaguars. His performance, however, was short-lived as he was replaced after the first quarter due to struggles in pass protection. Since entering the league from Eastern Michigan, Sow has participated in 28 games across various teams, including stints with the Texans and the Patriots.

The Texans have been proactive this offseason in strengthening their offensive line, highlighted by significant signings such as All-Pro Wyatt Teller and the retention of Ed Ingram. Additionally, they bolstered their roster by selecting Keylan Rutledge from Georgia Tech in the first round and Febechi Nwaiwu from Oklahoma later in the draft. As the Texans gear up for the next phase of organized team activities, they aim to build a more formidable front line.
