Texas A&M's Nico Partida Earns Freshman All-American Honors
Despite their recent exit from the playoffs, Texas A&M is still receiving accolades, with true freshman third baseman Nico Partida taking center stage. On Monday, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced Partida's inclusion on the Freshman All-American First Team, marking a significant achievement in his debut season.
After the Aggies revamped their infield lineup post-2025, Partida quickly claimed the starting position at third base, which allowed Gavin Grahovac to transition to first base—a move that had previously raised concerns for the coaching staff. Partida not only filled the role effectively but also excelled, becoming a consistent presence in the lineup until an injury sidelined him towards the end of the season.
Though the injury hindered his bid for the national Freshman of the Year title, he was recognized as a strong contender prior to that setback. His accolades include being named Perfect Game’s Midseason Freshman of the Year and an invitation to the 2026 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp, in addition to his selection to the Freshman All-SEC Team.
His performance on the field supports the recognition he has received. Over the course of 49 games, Partida recorded a batting line of .306/.408/.550, achieving 55 hits, eight doubles, 12 home runs, and 43 runs batted in. His standout moments included 17 multi-hit games and 12 games with multiple RBIs, featuring a remarkable performance against Georgia where he achieved four hits, six RBIs, and a grand slam.
The Freshman All-American team is determined by votes from NCBWA members. The announcement for the 2026 NCBWA National Freshman Player of the Year and National Freshman Pitcher of the Year is set for Tuesday, June 9.
