Troy Baseball Advances to Host First Super Regional Against Little Rock
After a week filled with anticipation, the Troy Trojans baseball team learned their NCAA Tournament destiny. They emerged victorious from the Gainesville Regional, defeating the host team, No. 8 seeded Florida, with a convincing score of 10-2. This triumph marks a significant milestone for the program, as they prepare to host their inaugural super regional.
The upcoming super regional will feature Troy facing off against Little Rock, who secured their spot by sweeping the Hattiesburg Regional as the No. 4 seed. Coach Skylar Meade expressed his excitement about hosting the super regional, recalling his own experience as a player at Louisville in 2007. “It was one of the coolest things ever, and for me to be able to tell my players,” he noted. “It doesn’t matter who we are playing. We’re going to be ready to go.”
Meade also acknowledged the incredible support from Troy fans, particularly those who made the journey to Gainesville. In a lighthearted remark, he joked about the possibility of accommodating 19,000 fans at Riddle-Pace Field, which typically holds 2,500. “It’s really awesome for the fans, especially those who made the trip down here or those who have been a Trojan much longer than I have,” Meade said. “I’ve only been a Trojan for four years, 11 months, but there are those who have been it for 70 years, and they get to rock the Power T really hard right now.”
