Twins Dominate Rangers 12-2 to Secure Series Victory
ARLINGTON, Texas — The Minnesota Twins showcased their offensive prowess with a commanding 12-2 victory over the Texas Rangers, clinching the series win. The game kicked off with Trevor Larnach launching a solo home run on the second pitch from Texas pitcher Kumar Rocker, setting the tone for the night.
Following Larnach's blast, Byron Buxton contributed with a single, swiped second base, and was later brought home by a two-out RBI single from Josh Bell, establishing a 2-0 lead for the Twins. The third inning saw Kody Clemens extend the advantage with a three-run homer that soared just over the right field wall, marking his fifth home run in the last 15 games, during which he has maintained an impressive slugging percentage of over .600.
In a decisive fourth inning, the Twins erupted for five additional runs. After Alex Jackson doubled, Buxton’s deep fly to right field was mishandled by Brandon Nimmo, allowing the rally to continue. Cal Quantrill replaced Rocker and issued an intentional walk to Clemens, but Royce Lewis capitalized with a two-run single. Josh Bell then delivered a double down the right field line, scoring two more runs due to another error by Nimmo. Luke Keaschall’s single brought Bell home, pushing the score to 10-0.
The Rangers managed to score single runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, but starter Zebby Matthews was effective, limiting damage with a slider that earned him four strikeouts and a whiff rate of 45%. Matthews pitched seven innings, allowing just two runs, which was more than sufficient for the Twins’ offensive display.
In the ninth inning, the Rangers brought in catcher Kyle Higashioka to pitch. The Twins added two more runs with a double from Keaschall and a sacrifice fly from Kyler Fedko, who was still seeking his first hit. The game wrapped up with a season-high 17 hits for the Twins, as Cody Laweryson closed the game with a shutout inning, securing the final score of 12-2.
Key performances came from Trevor Larnach, who went 4-for-6 with a home run and two runs scored; Kody Clemens, who finished 2-for-4 with a three-run homer; and Josh Bell, who added two RBIs to his tally.
