Tyon Grant-Foster Cleared to Compete by NBA Fitness Panel

February 21, 2026; Spokane, Washington, USA – Tyon Grant-Foster, a guard for the Gonzaga Bulldogs, has received authorization to participate in NBA activities after being cleared by the league's fitness-to-play panel, as reported by DraftExpress' Jonathan Givony. This development comes after a challenging journey for Grant-Foster, who had been unable to engage in offseason workouts with NBA teams due to prior health concerns.

Grant-Foster's career has been marked by significant obstacles, including two separate incidents of cardiac arrest. The first occurred in November 2021 during a game for the DePaul Blue Demons, and the second incident took place in 2022 during a pickup game in his Kansas City hometown. Following these events, he underwent two heart surgeries, had a defibrillator implanted, and was sidelined from basketball for 18 months.

In addition to his health challenges, Grant-Foster had to navigate eligibility issues with the NCAA before joining Gonzaga for the 2025-26 season, which added further stress to his life during that period. Now at age 26, he is finally positioned to resume his aspirations of playing professionally.

As the 2026 NBA Draft approaches, scheduled for June 23-24 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Grant-Foster is entering the process later than most. Speculation suggests he may not be selected, similar to fellow Gonzaga players Graham Ike and Jalen Warley, who are also expected to pursue opportunities in the G League.
