Florida Gators Welcome Brother of Star Wide Receiver to 7-on-7 Camp
The Florida Gators recently hosted a notable participant during one of their offseason football camps, drawing attention from the college football community. High school athletes often attend these camps for exposure and the chance to explore campuses, and this event was no exception.
Among the attendees at the Gators' 7-on-7 camp was Angelo Smith, a safety who is currently committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Smith's presence was particularly intriguing due to his familial connection; he is the younger brother of Jeremiah Smith, a wide receiver renowned for his exceptional talent and widely regarded as one of the best in college football history.
As he embarks on his recruitment journey, Angelo Smith has remained loyal to Ohio State since his commitment on September 21, 2025. Despite attending the Gators’ camp, there is no indication that he is considering changing his allegiance. However, this marks his first visit to a school other than Ohio State, adding a layer of curiosity to his recruitment process.
In his inaugural season, Florida head coach Jon Sumrall has managed to assemble a strong recruiting class, currently ranked fifth nationally with 21 commitments. Among these, five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller stands out, and Sumrall is actively pursuing several other top-tier recruits.
While Angelo Smith’s visit may not signify a shift in his commitment, it certainly highlights the unpredictable nature of college football recruiting.
