UCLA Softball Strengthens Roster with Arizona State Transfer After Key Loss

As the offseason unfolds, UCLA's softball team has taken a significant step to bolster its pitching lineup following the departure of senior ace Taylor Tinsley to the Athletes Unlimited Softball League. Tinsley was a standout player for the Bruins, logging an impressive 235 innings and completing 27 games throughout the season, which far surpassed the combined total of UCLA's other three pitchers, who collectively pitched 145.4 innings and finished six complete games.

In a move to fill the void left by Tinsley's exit, UCLA has successfully recruited pitcher Meika Lauppe from Arizona State via the transfer portal, as reported by D1 Softball's Justin McLeod. Lauppe, a California native, has spent her first three collegiate seasons with the Sun Devils and will join the Bruins for her final year of NCAA eligibility.

Throughout her tenure at Arizona State, Lauppe has achieved 25 victories, maintained a 3.64 ERA, and accumulated 160 strikeouts over 273 innings. In the most recent 2025-26 season, she boasted a strong 14-4 record, a 3.59 ERA, and a career-high of 65 strikeouts across 41 appearances, also matching her personal best with four complete games.

If UCLA retains its current pitching roster without further transfers, Lauppe will be joining fellow pitchers Natalie Cable, Brynne Nally, and Sydney Somerndike for the upcoming season, enhancing the team's depth on the mound.
