Vikings' T.J. Hockenson Among NFL's Least Favorable Contracts for 2026
Tight end T.J. Hockenson's four-year, $66 million contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings, signed three years ago, is facing scrutiny as it has not aged well. Despite being compensated as one of the highest-paid tight ends in the league, his performance has not met expectations in recent seasons.
According to Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report, Hockenson's contract has been identified as one of the least favorable in the NFL, landing at the ninth spot on a list of the ten worst contracts. Gagnon highlighted that the nearly 29-year-old player has managed only three touchdowns since the beginning of 2024 and has struggled to exceed 500 receiving yards in the past two years.
Moreover, Hockenson's contract carries the highest salary-cap hit for a tight end in 2026, even after the Vikings restructured his deal in March. With his contract year approaching and little flexibility remaining, concerns about his future impact on the team are growing.
While Hockenson has had a successful career, it appears his role as a key contributor may be waning. The silver lining for the Vikings is that only one year remains on his contract, suggesting that the financial burden is temporary.
