VOTE for HSS Flag Football Player of the Week for May 18-24

After another exciting week of the high school flag football season, it's time to look back on the best performances.

Read about the players who stood out last week and let us know who you think should be the HSS North Jersey Player of the Week in the poll at the bottom of this page.

Ava Connolly, Wayne Hills

The senior RB/LB made an impact in all phases during her team’s 26-7 SFC North playoff win at rival Wayne Valley. Connolly rushed 7 times for 42 yards, made 3 catches for 19 yards and a TD, hauled in a 1-point conversion and 9 flag pulls and a 25-yard pick-six.

Emely Jimenez Abreu, Eastside

The junior WR/DB totaled 137 yards of offense in two SFC North playoff games, as the Ghosts (11-2) reached the semifinal round. Jimenez Abreu caught 6 passes for 107 yards and a 1-point conversion and stood out on defense, logging 21 flag pulls and an INT return TD.

Lillian Lopusnak, Fair Lawn

The sophomore RB/rusher caught two TDs in the Cutters’ opening-round win over Ramapo in the SFC South playoffs. Lopusnak helped her team reach the semifinals with 11 carries for 70 yards, 4 catches for 48 yards and 2 PATs in two games, plus 9 flag pulls and an INT.

Thalia Sosa, Harrison

The junior QB/DB returned from a knee injury to lead a fourth-quarter comeback vs. Secaucus in the NJIC semifinals, throwing two touchdowns and two 1-point passes in a 14-12 win. Including a conference title-game victory, Sosa threw for 126 yards and 3 scores.

Sienna Tabije, Passaic Tech

The senior DB helped the Bulldog defense allow just 6 points in two SFC North playoff victories, snaring 3 interceptions in a quarterfinal win vs. Newark Tech. Tabije totaled 11 flag pulls and 3 pass breakups along with her INTs, and she returned 2 punts for 25 yards.
