Washington State Secures Commitment from Tight End Owen Yurosek for 2027 Class

PULLMAN — Washington State University is enhancing its recruiting efforts for the upcoming prep class by securing a commitment from tight end Owen Yurosek. This announcement, made on Monday, marks Yurosek as the sixth player to commit to the Cougars for the class of 2027.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 215 pounds, Yurosek comes from Bakersfield Christian School in California. He previously attracted interest from several other programs, including Fresno State, San Jose State, Nevada, Hawaii, and UNLV, but ultimately chose to join Washington State. His commitment may indicate a renewed focus on recruiting talent from California, a traditional stronghold for the Cougars.

Under the previous coaching staff led by Jimmy Rogers, who departed for Iowa State after just one season, WSU had aimed to build connections in regions like Louisiana and the Midwest. However, Yurosek’s commitment could signify a return to the Cougars' historical recruiting strategy.

During the last season, Yurosek recorded 13 receptions for 153 yards, including a notable catch that spanned 48 yards. Additionally, he is the younger brother of Ben Yurosek, who had a successful stint as a tight end at Stanford before signing with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent last spring.

Notably, Yurosek has a scheduled visit to Nevada on June 12, as he continues to explore his options before committing fully to Washington State.
