What does Mel Kiper think of new Commanders WR Antonio Williams?
The Washington Commanders used the No. 71 overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft to select Clemson wide receiver Antonio Williams on Friday night. It was a popular move, with many draft analysts saying Washington got good value by landing Williams early in the third round.
Daniel Jeremiah loved the Commanders' selection of Williams, ranking him as one of the better receivers in the 2026 class. The legendary Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN is also a big fan of Williams. Washington fans will be encouraged to hear what Kiper thought about the Commanders' pick.
Kiper named some of his favorite picks from Day 2 of the draft, and Williams made the list.
The Commanders took receiver Antonio Williams at No. 71; he's an outstanding football player. Jayden Daniels needs more help beyond Terry McLaurin, and Williams will contribute out of the slot and as a kick returner. He caught 130 passes over the past two years, scoring 15 receiving touchdowns. Bit of value to this pick, too. I ranked him 48th overall.
Not a great athlete, but an outstanding football player. It's not that Williams isn't an outstanding athlete, but it's good to hear the words "outstanding football player." The Williams' pick isn't about just projecting. He's proven it over time at the college level.
