The New York Knicks have had one of the most improbable and unbelievable runs in recent NBA Playoff history. With a definitive 130-93 bludgeoning of the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 4 to complete the sweep, they are onto the NBA Finals.

But who should fans root for as their opponent?

The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder are all tied up at two games apiece, with Game 5 coming up later this evening. Both teams have superstars on their side, and one of them is the reigning NBA Champions.

The Knicks faced both teams twice in the regular season. They lost both games to the Thunder and split the season series with the Spurs.

Going off of that, the advantage is with the Spurs coming to Madison Square Garden next week. But that is not the correct answer.

Knicks fans should want to run a seven-game series for the NBA Finals Championship against the Thunder, because they do not have an answer for the Spurs' superstar center, Victor Wembanyama. Both Karl Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson can try their hardest, but Wemby would slice and dice both of them.

Also, in the interest of competition, the prospect of seeing Jalen Brunson against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with everything on the line has to be on the minds of every Knicks fan and the minds of every Basketball fan around the world.

If this Knicks run is projected to be one of the greatest of all-time, not only in franchise history, why not run the gauntlet against the champs?
