Will Howard hilariously admits FOMO over Aaron Rodgers’ ice cream run

Aaron Rodgers is back in Pittsburgh for one more run, and he is already building chemistry the old-fashioned way: over ice cream.

Fresh off signing a one-year, $22 million fully guaranteed deal to return to the Steelers, Rodgers was spotted at North Park’s Kool Cones on May 15 with Mason Rudolph, Ben Skowronek, and Pat Freiermuth. Will Howard was among the missing.

When asked about missing the ice cream grab, the second-year quarterback had the perfect response.

“Yeah, I'm still pissed about that,” Howard said with a laugh.

It was a great answer that came during an important week for Howard. With Rodgers taking first-team reps to open OTAs, Howard worked behind him as QB2, ahead of Rudolph and rookie Drew Allar in the rotation.

The spot matters with Howard still largely unknown at the NFL level. The former Ohio State quarterback missed last season after a training camp hand injury landed him on injured reserve, leaving him without regular-season experience.

For Mike McCarthy and his staff, these early reps are less about a random depth chart shuffle and more about evaluation. Howard missed the ice cream run, but he is getting a real chance to show where he fits behind Rodgers.

As for Rodgers and his teammates at Kool Cones, employees told Pittsburgh's Action News 4 that Rodgers ordered a Butterfinger freeze, a strawberry pretzel salad freeze, and a regular vanilla shake.
