Wills Maginnis Transfers to Arkansas Baseball from Georgia State

Arkansas baseball has secured a new player from the transfer portal, bringing in talented infielder Wills Maginnis from Georgia State. According to a report by On3 Sports, Maginnis announced his commitment to the Razorbacks on June 15. He becomes the second infielder and the third overall player to join the team under head coach Dave Van Horn this offseason.

Maginnis recently completed his sophomore year at Georgia State, where he made a significant impact by starting in all 56 games. He boasted a batting average of .306, along with eight home runs, 42 runs batted in, and 13 doubles. His performance earned him a place on the All-Sun Belt First Team. With a keen eye for pitching, he recorded 31 walks and achieved a .404 on-base percentage, while only striking out 36 times in 260 plate appearances. Additionally, he showcased his speed on the bases by stealing 21 bases throughout the season.

Primarily positioned at third base during the last season, Maginnis also played as the starting first baseman during his freshman year. His versatility at the corners could be an asset for Arkansas, which may need to fill gaps in its infield next season. The Razorbacks could potentially lose their entire starting infield, as seniors Camden Kozeal, TJ Pompey, Nolan Souza, and Reese Robinett are all eligible for the MLB Draft this year.

In a family connection to the program, Maginnis' younger brother, Hayes, is committed to join the Arkansas team in the 2027 high school class.
