Wisconsin Secures Commitment from 4-Star Defensive Lineman Yahzeen Zion

MADISON - The Wisconsin football program has been making significant strides in recruiting, recently adding their third four-star player in just one week. On June 6, defensive lineman Yahzeen Zion declared his commitment to join the Badgers' 2027 recruiting class during his official visit to the university.

Zion's decision follows a successful weekend for the Badgers, who managed to secure commitments from four out of six recruits who visited for official tours. Notably, one of those recruits was defensive back Mekhi Williams, who previously committed to Florida State before flipping to Wisconsin.

Hailing from Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Arizona, Zion is not alone in his commitment; he shares this connection with new Badgers linebacker Nathan Jones, who also attends the same high school. Additionally, Wisconsin redshirt sophomore Jon Jon Kamara is an alumnus of Desert Edge.

In terms of his physical attributes, Zion stands approximately 6-foot-5 and weighs around 265 pounds according to his X profile, although other sources list him slightly shorter. He eclipsed impressive statistics last season, recording 57 tackles, which included 15.5 tackles for loss and four sacks.

Choosing Wisconsin over notable programs such as Oklahoma and LSU, Zion's recruitment reflects a growing interest in the Badgers' football program. Currently, Wisconsin's recruiting class ranks 17th according to 247sports and 21st per Rivals, featuring a strong lineup that includes Zion and other promising prospects like David Hill and Will Zaccagnino.
