York High School Boys Lacrosse Secures Spot in Class B Semifinals with Dominant Victory

YORK, Maine — The York High School boys lacrosse team, seeded third, triumphed in their Class B quarterfinal match with a decisive 17-4 win over the sixth-seeded Gray-New Gloucester/Poland on Saturday, June 13, at their home field. This victory propels York into the semifinals, where they will face off against the tenth-seeded Kennebunk on Tuesday, June 16, following Kennebunk's surprising 11-10 upset over second-seeded Messalonskee the previous day.

Noah Stone was a standout for York, scoring seven goals, while teammates Brett Aceto and Cooper Dodge each contributed three goals. Charles Drake added a pair of goals, and Parker Humphrey and Tyler Moores rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece. “The guys came out ready to play,” noted York head coach Bill McNamara. He acknowledged that their previous encounter with Gray-New Gloucester/Poland, which ended with a six-goal margin, had prepared them for a tough contest.

With this latest win, York improves its record to 11-5 and maintains an undefeated streak against Class B rivals. Senior player Nick Beaulieu emphasized the team's unity, stating, “It was a team win and we all played together. It started right from the beginning in the locker room. All the boys were together and fired each other up. It was just great.”

In their earlier meeting during the regular season, York defeated Kennebunk 5-2. Looking ahead, McNamara expressed confidence in his team's approach: “We know they’ve got a good team. We’re just going to keep working on doing what we do, focus on playing the best York lacrosse we can and head into Tuesday with the same mentality we had today.” Beaulieu echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of maintaining their focus and teamwork as they progress through the playoffs.
