Aaron Rodgers credited his wife for helping him reach retirement decision

When Aaron Rodgers signed his one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was expected that the 42-year-old quarterback would be playing his final NFL season. On Wednesday, he confirmed just that.

His wife — who has yet to be photographed in public — apparently played a part in helping Rodgers reach his decision to retire after the season.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Rodgers was asked about the process he took to land on the choice to play one more year. He said it took several conversations with newly hired head coach Mike McCarthy, Steelers general manager Omar Khan and his wife (who is thought to be named Brittani).

Rodgers said:

"A lot of conversations with Mike (McCarthy) and Omar (Khan) for a while and then had a lot of conversations with my wife about it. After the draft, came to the conclusion that I wanted to play, I wanted to come back."

Earlier this week, a fake tweet claimed to share the first public photo of Rodgers and his wife. The photo, though, was fabricated and likely an AI-generated image.
