Adriana and Andressa Reunite with Brazil Women's Team in Itu After Eight Years

Adriana Alves and Andressa Alves have returned to the Brazil women's national team training camp in Itu, where their journey together first began in 2018 in preparation for the 2019 World Cup. Among the 29 players selected by coach Arthur Elias for this training session, held from June 15 to 20 in São Paulo, both players bring a wealth of experience to the squad.

"We spent quite a long time here, so we know this environment very well and always feel at home. It’s nice and enjoyable to come back and remember the memories from before," said Adriana, who currently plays for Saudi club Al-Qadsiah. This marks her 13th call-up under coach Elias, with whom she previously competed while playing for Orlando Pride in various international tournaments.

Andressa, having met coach Elias at Centro Olímpico in 2013, is excited to finally train with him on the national team. Reflecting on her tenure with the Seleção, she noted significant growth in both her personal development and the team’s management and performance. “The way the CBF is treating the women’s national team has changed a lot. It has evolved so that we can perform at a high level, because today we have everything at our disposal, like a nutritionist,” she explained.

As both players adjust to the team's evolving style of play, they emphasize the importance of learning from each coach. “Each one has their own style, completely different. We adapt. The good thing is that when everyone embraces his ideas, it works really well—we’re seeing the results we’ve had recently,” Adriana shared.

Looking ahead to the 2027 Women’s World Cup, which will take place in Brazil from June 24 to July 25, the duo acknowledges the challenges that come with high expectations. “The challenge will be among ourselves. To prepare and show that we are going in search of the title,” Adriana stated. Andressa added that playing in their home country adds an emotional weight, saying, “On the field, the challenge will be controlling our emotions... Brazil will go in as one of the favorites, and that is a very heavy burden.”
