A.J. Brown Realizes Long-Awaited Dream with New England Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – “I know this ain’t heaven, but it’s close to it,” expressed A.J. Brown as he reflects on finally joining the New England Patriots. For the talented wide receiver, this opportunity represents a culmination of years of aspiration, having been a devoted fan of the team for as long as he can remember. Growing up, Brown would often watch games with his cousin and dream of one day playing alongside legendary quarterback Tom Brady. His hopes were almost realized during the 2019 NFL Draft when he visited Gillette Stadium, only to see the Patriots select N'Keal Harry with the 32nd pick instead.

“That was a tough night. It was a tough night,” Brown recounted, recalling the disappointment he felt when he was not picked by his preferred team. “I joked about it earlier. I said the Patriots have been breaking my heart over the years.” He had entered the draft with high expectations, anticipating a first-round selection but left feeling disheartened when things didn’t go as planned. “As soon as the pick came in, I was already like in my car, leaving my draft party. I went back to my room and went in the closet, and just kind of tried to gather myself because I was just disappointed.”

After a few years and different experiences, Brown found himself with the Tennessee Titans, where he would occasionally express to head coach Mike Vrabel how much he wished he had been drafted by the Patriots. Now, he is finally donning the iconic Patriots uniform and taking the field as a member of the team he admired for so long. “Just talking to my mom, I was like, ‘Man, I’m still in awe,’” he shared. “Caught myself one point in practice, wasn’t paying attention because I was like, ‘Dang, I’m a Patriot.’”

Despite the joy of realizing his dream, Brown is also fueled by a strong determination to succeed. He conveyed a heartfelt message to the Patriots fans, saying, “To the fans, it’s time. Better late than never.” This marks a significant chapter in Brown’s career, and he’s eager to make the most of it.
