A'ja Wilson Shines as Aces Edge Lynx 100-97 in Commissioner’s Cup Showdown

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A'ja Wilson delivered a standout performance with 24 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Las Vegas Aces secure a narrow 100-97 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday night. This win allows the Aces to take the lead in the Western Conference for the Commissioner’s Cup. Meanwhile, Minnesota's rookie sensation, Olivia Miles, shone brightly with a career-high 29 points.

In a thrilling finish, Wilson and teammate Chelsea Gray each sank two free throws in the final moments, sealing the Aces' sixth consecutive victory as they improved to 10-3. The East's top team will face off against the best from the West for the Cup championship on June 30.

The Lynx, also at 10-3, had been riding an impressive eight-game winning streak before this matchup. Miles was particularly impactful, scoring 12 points in the final quarter. She drew a foul on Wilson and converted a three-point play, giving Minnesota a brief 94-93 lead with less than a minute remaining.

In a series of lead changes, Kayla McBride fouled Jewell Loyd, who made all three free throws to push the Aces ahead 96-94. Miles then hit her third three-pointer, putting the Lynx back in front at 97-96 with just 24.5 seconds left. However, she missed a potential game-tying three-pointer in the closing seconds, and Courtney Williams also failed to score from beyond the arc as time expired.

Looking ahead, the Lynx will host the Portland team on Monday, while the Aces will travel to Dallas for their next game.
