Angel City FC Secures Ally Sentnor from Kansas City Current for Record Transfer Fee

Angel City FC has made a significant move by acquiring U.S. national team forward Ally Sentnor from the Kansas City Current for a substantial sum of $850,000 in intraleague transfer funds. Sentnor, who was initially selected as the top pick in the 2024 National Women's Soccer League draft by the Utah Royals, was previously traded to the Current last August for a then-record $600,000.

During the current season, Sentnor has made her mark with two goals and two assists across 12 matches. Notably, she made her debut for the senior U.S. national team in 2024 during a match against England at Wembley Stadium. To date, she has participated in 22 games for the national team, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.

In her remarks about the transfer, Sentnor expressed enthusiasm for joining Angel City, stating, “What makes this club special is its commitment to excellence on the field and meaningful impact off it. The ambition, passion, and purpose throughout the organization are inspiring, and I’m eager to contribute in every way I can.”

This acquisition follows the recent departure of head coach Alex Straus, who was let go after a little over a year with the team. In the interim, assistant coach Leif Gunnar Smerud will step in as the club searches for a new head coach. Additionally, earlier this week, Angel City traded midfielder Kennedy Fuller to Bay FC for $520,000 in transfer fees and allocation funds. Fuller, who joined Angel City in 2024, has also contributed two goals and two assists this season.

Currently, Angel City holds a record of 4-6-1, placing them in 12th position in the NWSL standings.
