Angels Secure Victory Over Dodgers, 13-5, Fueled by Rivero's Six RBIs
The Los Angeles Angels celebrated a much-needed victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers, triumphing 13-5 thanks to a remarkable six-RBI performance from backup catcher Sebastian Rivero. The Angels quickly established dominance, scoring two runs in the second inning when Rivero delivered a two-run single, setting the tone for the game.
The Dodgers answered back in the third inning with a run from Kyle Tucker's ground out, but the Angels responded by extending their lead with two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings, bringing the score to 6-1 as Rivero continued his offensive onslaught with another single that drove in two more runs.
However, the game took a tense turn in the sixth inning when Angels starter Jose Soriano began to struggle. The Dodgers capitalized with home runs from Dalton Rushing and Ryan Ward, narrowing the gap to 6-5 and threatening another late-game collapse for the Angels. Yet, the Angels' offense remained relentless, with Rivero contributing yet another run and Jo Adell and Zach Neto both hitting home runs, pushing the score to 12-5.
Manager Kurt Suzuki took decisive action, replacing reliever Drew Pomeranz after he allowed two hits. Chase Silseth and Sam Bachman stepped up, successfully silencing the Dodgers' bats, while Mitch Farris capped off the game with a strikeout of the side in the ninth inning.
This victory highlighted the Angels' potential when their pitching is solid and their offense remains aggressive. Soriano notched his seventh win of the season, providing a much-needed boost for the team. Along with Rivero's impressive 5-for-5 performance, Adell added four hits and his tenth home run, while Neto hit his twelfth. The Angels now prepare to face the struggling Houston Astros in Anaheim, trailing them by 4.5 games in the standings, offering a chance to gain ground if they can maintain their strong performance.
