Arizona Soccer Welcomes Steve Voltz as New Assistant Coach

TUCSON, ARIZ. — As the 2026 soccer season approaches, Arizona Soccer is undergoing significant changes. Head coach Becca Moros announced the appointment of Steve Voltz as the new assistant coach on Tuesday.

Voltz is the second assistant to join the coaching staff this spring, following the earlier hiring of Nils Roth in March. They take over from former assistants Sebastian Pineda Gordillo and Philip Congleton. Before arriving in Tucson, Voltz spent five seasons at Louisiana Tech, where he recorded a 29-33-11 overall record and led the Bulldogs to consecutive Conference USA Tournament appearances in 2022 and 2023, marking the team’s first conference tournament participation since 2019.

Prior to his tenure at Louisiana Tech, Voltz dedicated eight years to Millsaps College, six of which were spent as the head coach of the men’s soccer team, achieving the program's inaugural NCAA tournament berth. “Steve is a veteran coach with experience on the men’s and women’s sides, experience as both a head coach and an assistant coach, and experience at various levels of the game,” Moros highlighted in the announcement. “He is good at building relationships and cares about the community and the people in it. His connections domestically and internationally will be a benefit to our recruiting efforts as we look to grow our program into the future.”

A native of Offenbach, Germany, Voltz has also coached at DII Tusculum University, DIII Huntingdon College, and DII Slipper Rock University, in addition to serving as a player development coach in Olympic Development Programs across Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama. The Arizona program has seen considerable movement this spring, with the addition of Voltz and Roth, alongside five new transfers to replace outgoing players. Notably, Eden Bretzer, previously of North Carolina and Florida Gulf Coast, briefly joined the team before transferring to Michigan State in early May.

The women’s soccer season is set to commence on August 12, with exhibition matches typically scheduled the week prior, though Arizona has yet to release its complete schedule. Moros enters her sixth season as head coach, aiming to guide the Wildcats back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.
