Berks County Teams Set for 2A Girls Lacrosse Championship; Boys Semifinal Ends in Thrilling Five Overtimes

This Saturday, the PIAA Class 2A girls lacrosse championship will feature an all-Berks County showdown. Wyomissing, the District 3 champions, will face off against Twin Valley, the BCIAA champions, at 10 a.m. at Penn State.

The Spartans secured their place in the finals after a hard-fought victory over West Chester Rustin, winning 14-12 at Comer Field in Penn Manor High School on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Twin Valley earned their spot by defeating the defending state champions, Villa Maria Academy, with a score of 13-11 at West Chester Henderson High School.

In boys volleyball, Brandywine Heights faced a tough challenge in the 2A semifinals, falling to Meadville in straight sets. Meadville dominated the match with scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-16 at State College High School, despite the match's venue being changed from Bald Eagle High School earlier in the day.

In an exciting turn of events in boys 2A lacrosse, Penncrest triumphed over Twin Valley, edging them out 9-8 after an intense five-overtime battle to advance to the championship match on Saturday.

This year's playoffs have showcased the competitive spirit of local teams, highlighting the depth of talent in Berks County athletics.
