Berks Teams Shine in PIAA Playoffs, All Make Semifinal Cut
All four remaining teams from Berks County in the PIAA playoffs secured their spots in the semifinals during Saturday's exciting matchups. Each team demonstrated impressive skills, leading to a successful advancement in their respective tournaments.
In boys volleyball, Brandywine Heights, the District 3 runner-up, triumphed over District 7's South Fayette. The Bullets clinched the victory with a clean sweep, winning the quarterfinal match 25-21, 25-13, 28-26. With a season record of 20-2, they will face District 10 champion Meadville in the semifinals scheduled for Tuesday, with the time and location yet to be confirmed.
The girls lacrosse scene saw both District 3 champion Wyomissing and runner-up Twin Valley move on to the semifinals. Wyomissing dominated District 7's Quaker Valley with a score of 12-2, while Twin Valley secured a convincing 15-4 win against Gwynedd Mercy. The Spartans will take on West Chester Rustin, and Twin Valley will meet Villa Maria Academy, with match details still pending.
In boys 2A lacrosse, Twin Valley continued the trend, edging out Scranton Prep with an 11-9 victory. The Raiders are set to confront Penncrest in the semifinals, although the schedule and venue for these games have not yet been announced.
