Best Maine schools for athletes? According to one study, these are top 25
Maine may not register to many as a haven for sports but a deeper look into the state’s history says otherwise.
Joan Benoit Samuelson once roamed the halls of Cape Elizabeth High School before winning gold in the 1984 Summer Olympics. Cindy Blodgett starred at Lawrence High School before playing collegiately at Maine and then being taken by Cleveland with the 6th pick in the 1998 WNBA Draft.
Those two are just a small sample of Maine’s rich sporting history.
What high schools in Maine are considered the best for high school athletes today?
According to one study conducted by Niche, which includes survey feedback from students and parents—accounting for "reviews of athletics, number of state championships, student participation in athletics, and the number of sports offered at the school"—and data from the U.S. Department of Education, these are the top 25.
