Big recruiting weekends in store for Arizona football as 2027 cycle heats up
Recruiting is an unending process in college football, but the summer months are when a big chunk of the work gets done.
Of the 19 high school and junior college players Arizona signed in the 2026 class, more than half ended up committing in June and July last year. And in many cases, they did so either during an official visit to campus or shortly afterward.
The foundation of the 2027 recruiting class could be laid in the coming weeks, as UA coaches are set to host roughly 30 prospects over the next four weekends. The first batch of potential future Wildcats arrives Friday, a group that includes recent commit Wayne Shanks Jr.A 3-star running back from Texas, Shanks picked Arizona on May 15 to become the fourth member of the 2027 class.
At least six other 2027 recruits are scheduled visit this weekend, including 4-star defensive lineman Tevita Nonu, who committed to Washington earlier this month but can’t sign until December. Also expected are 3-star Texas linebacker Aston Whiteside and 3-star California safety Dillon Davis.
The scheduled visits the first week of June include 4-star California athlete Elyjah Staples and Nevada running back Ezra Sanelivi, a BYU commit. UA tight end commit Max Markofski is part of the group scheduled to take official visits the weekend of June 12, as is 3-star Texas cornerback Kasen Jammer, who recently listed the UA among his top four along with Baylor, Duke and Utah, and the list for the weekend of June 19 features a trio of 4-star prospects highlighted by in-state athlete Jai Jones.
