Brandon Aiyuk Sparks Trade Speculation with Social Media Move

Brandon Aiyuk recently inked a four-year, $120 million deal with the San Francisco 49ers in 2024. However, the team's decision to void approximately $27 million in his guaranteed salary for 2026 has raised eyebrows, particularly due to concerns regarding his recovery from a serious knee injury and missed rehabilitation sessions. These developments have led to speculation about a potential trade as tensions between Aiyuk and the organization seem to be escalating.

In Santa Clara, California, Aiyuk was spotted ahead of the NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions, but much of his past year has been spent on the sidelines recuperating. Reports indicate that the 49ers are actively seeking trade opportunities, although Aiyuk's hefty contract and questions about his recovery have made this a challenging task.

One team that has emerged as a possible destination for Aiyuk is the Washington Commanders. Recently, he stirred rumors on social media by unfollowing nearly all of his contacts on Instagram, leaving only three: his wife, the Commanders' official account, and star quarterback Jayden Daniels. This action has fueled speculation about his future in the league.

Despite his injury setbacks, Aiyuk had impressive seasons in 2022 and 2023, surpassing 1,000 receiving yards in both years and scoring a total of 15 touchdowns. His performance played a vital role in securing the lucrative extension before the 2024 season. Unfortunately, a torn ACL and MCL in the early part of the 2024 season ultimately sidelined him for that year and all of 2025, raising concerns about his long-term prospects.

As the offseason progresses, all eyes will be on Aiyuk and the 49ers to see how this situation unfolds, particularly with the upcoming season on the horizon.
