Braves Edge Out Brewers 3-2 with Key Hits and Strong Defense

ATLANTA (AP) — In a thrilling opener of a three-game series, the Atlanta Braves triumphed over the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2, thanks to a standout performance by Mike Yastrzemski and a clutch hit from Mauricio Dubón. The matchup showcased two National League leaders battling it out on Friday night.

Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, who had been impressive with just one earned run allowed in his previous eight starts, faced a challenging sixth inning. That’s when Dubón connected for a two-run single, turning the tide in favor of the Braves and marking the first occasion since April 25 that Misiorowski allowed multiple runs in a game.

Braves right fielder Eli White made a pivotal defensive play in the ninth, narrowly throwing out Jackson Churio at home plate, which helped maintain Atlanta's slim lead. Closer Raisel Iglesias secured his 15th save of the season by striking out William Contreras to seal the victory.

Starting pitcher Martín Pérez improved to 6-3, recording his fourth consecutive win. He delivered a solid six-inning performance, allowing just one run while striking out five batters, lowering his ERA to 2.78. Yastrzemski added to the scoring with a home run in the seventh, his fourth of the season.

For the Brewers, Garrett Mitchell had a productive night at the plate, going 2 for 4, while Brice Turang contributed an RBI with an infield single in the third inning. Misiorowski finished with two runs allowed over six innings and struck out seven, but his league-best ERA increased to 1.45.

Looking ahead, the second game of the series will feature Brewers left-hander Kyle Harrison (8-1, 2.47 ERA) facing Braves left-hander Chris Sale (8-5, 2.30).
