Brent Blaylock Appointed Director of Athletics at University of San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The University of San Francisco has officially appointed Brent Blaylock as its new director of athletics, a decision announced on Wednesday. Blaylock brings over two decades of experience in both collegiate and professional sports to the position.
Previously, Blaylock served as the executive deputy athletic director and chief operating officer at Oregon State since 2024. His experience also includes a significant role at the University of Arizona, where he worked from 2017 to 2024, including a tenure as senior associate director of athletics focusing on administration and institutional control.
In his statement regarding the new role, Blaylock expressed enthusiasm, saying, “I am honored to lead the University of San Francisco Athletics Department during this transformative period for college athletics. I am thankful for the confidence that President (Salvador) Aceves and the Board have placed in me, and for their unwavering commitment to student-athletes.” He emphasized his eagerness to build upon the university's culture of excellence while supporting both student-athletes and coaches.
This appointment comes at a time when many universities are navigating significant changes in the landscape of collegiate sports.
