Brewers Eye Promising College Hitter in Upcoming Draft

The Milwaukee Brewers are currently leading the National League Central with a 41-25 record, maintaining a solid four-game advantage over the St. Louis Cardinals. As they prepare for a challenging weekend series against the Philadelphia Phillies, who have recently found their footing with a 7-3 record in their last ten games, the team remains focused on both the present and the future.

While the players gear up for this matchup, the Brewers' front office is setting its sights on the upcoming draft, where they hold the 25th overall pick. Although they may miss out on some of the top-tier talents due to their late selection, there are still numerous prospects worth considering.

In a recent mock draft by The Athletic's Keith Law, the Brewers are projected to select Daniel Jackson, a catcher/outfielder from Georgia. After a rough outing on May 1 where he went hitless, Jackson has rebounded impressively, maintaining a hitting streak that has propelled him into first-round discussions. Law noted, "Jackson went 0 for 4 on May 1, and hasn't gone hitless in a game since – right through the Super Regional."

Jackson has demonstrated remarkable power and athleticism, showcasing his ability to hit the ball hard from the right side. Despite being more agile than the typical catcher, he still has areas to improve defensively. If he can refine his skills behind the plate and enhance his arm strength, he may prove to be a valuable addition for the Brewers as they look to strengthen their roster in this draft.
