Brewers Rally Late to Secure Thrilling 10-Inning Win Over Rockies
DENVER (AP) — In a dramatic finish, the Milwaukee Brewers stunned the Colorado Rockies with a 9-7 victory on Friday night, scoring a remarkable eight runs in the last two innings. Jake Bauers delivered a pivotal two-run double during a four-run 10th inning, following a crucial pinch-hit two-run single by Andrew Vaughn that capped a four-run rally in the ninth.
Remarkably, the Brewers had gone hitless from the second through the eighth innings before their late-game explosion. This win marked Milwaukee's first of the season when trailing after eight frames. Trevor Megill (1-2) earned the win despite a blown save, while Aaron Ashby conceded two runs in the 10th, one of which was unearned, before sealing the victory by striking out Jake McCarthy.
Juan Mejia (1-5) suffered the loss for the Rockies after allowing four runs in just one out of work. Colorado had taken a 3-1 lead into the final inning, bolstered by a strong performance from starter Ryan Feltner, who allowed one run over six innings. Jaden Hill also pitched effectively in the seventh.
In a turning point, Rockies pitcher Antonio Senzatela struck out the side in the eighth but faltered in the ninth, giving up a leadoff single to Brice Turang. Following a misplayed double play attempt, Bauers knocked in a run, and Sal Frelick's timely double tied the game before Vaughn's single brought the Brewers ahead 5-3. Hunter Goodman’s sacrifice fly later leveled the score at 5.
Goodman had previously hit a solo homer in the third to give Colorado an early lead. Brewers starter Brandon Sproat allowed three runs and seven hits over five innings. Milwaukee's Jacob Misiorowski (6-2, 1.65) is set to pitch against Rockies’ Tanner Gordon (0-1, 6.37) in the upcoming matchup.
