Brighton Outmaneuvers Chelsea and Newcastle to Secure Record Signing of Zadok Yohanna

Brighton & Hove Albion has successfully outbid Chelsea and Newcastle United to secure the services of teenage talent Zadok Yohanna from AIK. The club has confirmed a five-year contract for the Nigerian winger, with a transfer fee reaching €30 million, as reported by journalist Florian Plettenberg.

This transfer marks a significant milestone in Swedish football, as Yohanna's fee surpasses the previous record of €20 million set by Tottenham Hotspur for Lucas Bergvall in 2024. Despite interest from both Chelsea and Newcastle, Yohanna opted for Brighton after verbal agreements were already in place with the club.

At just 18 years old, Yohanna made the switch to AIK from Nigerian club Ikon Allah last summer, initially playing with the U19 squad. He has since become a key player for AIK, featuring in all seven league matches this season, showcasing his potential as one of the most dynamic wingers in the league.

Yohanna stands out in the Swedish top flight, ranking second in dribbles per 90 minutes and contributing five goal involvements thus far. Known for his quick acceleration and excellent ball control, he is expected to bring fresh energy to Brighton's attack.

At Brighton, Yohanna will face competition for a starting spot from Yankuba Minteh, who started 28 Premier League matches last season and recorded seven goal involvements. The Seagulls finished seventh last season, securing a place in the Europa League, and will need added depth to tackle both domestic and European challenges.
