Brooklyn Nets Expected to Decline Josh Minott's $2.6 Million Option

The Brooklyn Nets are gearing up for a pivotal offseason as they aim to bounce back from a disappointing 20-62 record in the 2025-26 NBA season. Among the key decisions they face is the fate of forward Josh Minott, who has a team option worth $2.6 million. In addition to selecting the No. 6 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, the Nets must evaluate several potential free agents. At just 23 years old, Minott is coming off the most productive stretch of his career after being selected 45th overall by the Memphis Tigers in the 2022 NBA Draft. During the final 16 games of the season with the Nets, he averaged 10.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game, shooting 49.1% from the field and an impressive 39.5% from three-point range.

Both general manager Sean Marks and head coach Jordi Fernandez took a risk by giving Minott more playing time than he had with the Boston Celtics. This decision paid off as Minott showcased his scoring ability, defensive skills, and athleticism on the court. With a focus on maximizing their salary cap this offseason, the Nets are likely to explore the possibility of bringing Minott back, although it may take some time for that to materialize in the open market.
