The Los Angeles Chargers have had a good offseason, with the franchise addressing several areas of concern on the roster for Jim Harbaugh.

In the lead-up to the NFL Draft, there was a thought that the franchise might be looking to deal receiver Quentin Johnston. Well, that was the rumor anyway.

In truth, it never really made sense, given he is coming off back-to-back seasons of 700+ yards and 8 TDs, and it appears the Chargers still see a lot of value in Johnston.

According to reports, the Chargers have picked up Johnston's fifth-year option, giving them two seasons of evaluation before they make a big financial decision.

Johnston set for defining 2026 season?

Sort of, and if he wants a contract extension, having another good season will certainly help matters, and in truth, it doesn't have to be a 1,000-yard season either.

Just another 700+ yards and a handful of touchdowns in Mike McDaniel's offense will see Johnston as a key cog of the Chargers' offensive machine.

With no Keenan Allen (yet), there is a chance that Johnston could step up, alongside Ladd McConkey, to be Justin Herbert's go-to guy in the passing game.

Johnston has often been much maligned in L.A., but he's starting to find his feet, as evidenced by his last two seasons, and if he can continue making plays as he has, I expect him to stick around with the Chargers for a long time.
